Hydroponics Lab Nearing Completion
Second-year Electrical/Connectivity students are installing grow lights on the middle section of the expanded hydroponics lab that is a major component in the Environmental Horticulture/Outdoor Recreation program. When completed the lab will feature a section devoted to strawberries, another for a variety of herbs and spices, and a lettuce production section. The food produced by the lab will be used by the Culinary Arts/Hospitality program and the excess will be marketed at UTC. The cross-curricula effort is another example of how UTC instructors and students work cooperatively to give participants practical hands-on experience as well as excellent cooperative learning experiences.
