Woodworking Expert Aids Building Construction Program
What would a retired Etna Insurance Company employee and former Computer Programming instructor at the University of Maine be doing volunteering one day a week in the Building Construction Management program? Aside from his chosen vocations, Frank Gallant has always had a passion for carpentry and fine woodworking. He has bought and reconstructed several houses and worked in his home shop for years. A member of the Eastern Maine Wood Turners Association, he has brought his expertise to UTC by mentoring and assisting students. He has also worked as an Adult Ed. Instructor both in Orono and at UTC. He taught a Adirondack Chair and Table Making evenings in the UTC Adult Education Program. BCM instructor Dave Stevens had enjoyed the volunteer relationship with Frank and had had many students benefit from his tutelage. Frank Gallant is a classic example of how expert craftsmen give back through volunteerism. UTC is fortunate to have had his unselfish services for the last ten years and look forward to this relationship in the future.
