Career opportunities for certified welders, have never been higher. At UTC you will work with state-of-the-art equipment and learn techniques that will assist you in developing skills for the AWS structural certification. The Welding/Fabrication program offers an in-depth curriculum in both arc and wire feed welding. The student will have considerable opportunity using different welding and cutting processes and fabrication skills. Professional shop procedures and proper safety practices will be emphasized throughout the course.
Specific Skill Cover in this Program:
Welding Processes
– Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) – Flux cored arc welding
– Gas metal arc welding (MIG) – Gas tungsten arc welding (TIG)
Cutting Processes
– Oxy-acetylene cutting – Plasma arc cutting
– Carbon air cutting
Other
– Basic welding symbols – Basic blueprint reading
– Basic metallurgy – Inspection methods
– Equipment & tool safety
